Hydrogen gas may help reduce inflammation and fight infections by stopping the formation of Neutrophil Extracellular Traps. This discovery could lead to new treatments for diseases involving too much inflammation. Scientists in Japan found that giving mice hydrogen gas to breathe reduced the formation of these traps and helped the body fight infections in a more balanced way.
